Know your calorie counts

Published by frogdoc at 9:56 am under Uncategorized Edit This

A normally active adult needs no  more than 2,000 calories during a day. But face it, most of us are not as active as we should be so we probably need less.  And we need even LESS if we’re trying to lose weight. While it’s important not to go too low, it is equally important not to go too high.  I will talk about that balance and how to strike it some other time.

Read the labels of the food you eat. There are 150 calories in a single serving of vanilla ice cream. That’s not that many, right? Well, keep reading. A single serving of ice cream is only half a cup. When was the last time you had a half cup of ice cream? That’s not even a dip… hardly enough to mess with! If ice cream is your weakness, buy ice milks, reduced fat ice cream, or sherbets. Or, purchase little plastic cups already filled with ice cream so you can control your portions.

The point is, read your labels and know roughly how many calories your food has. This is especially true if you like to snack- it will help you find healthier alternatives.

TODAY’S TAKEAWAY: Eat ice cream, but in moderation!

Most people think that losing weight is all about eating only healthy foods, which is totally incorrect. You can still eat the foods you want, but make sure to eat them in smaller portions. Take the time to eat your food slowly, and enjoy it. Excellent post!
