Don’t get comfortable

Published by frogdoc under activity level Edit This

I am writing this assuming that if you want to lose weight that you are already involved in an exercise program. If not, at least you know you should be so get going!

One of my favorite new songs is by Brandon Heath and it’s called Don’t Get Comfortable. It is a Christian song, and as such reminds us not to get comfortable with life in this world. But I find that phrase has meaning that transcends into all parts of life. If you become comfortable with your workouts (or anything for that matter), your body will become used to them and they won’t work as much for you anymore. If you walk on the treadmill 30 minutes a day, change up the pace a little or increase the incline. Even staying on ten additional minutes will be enough of a difference for your body to recognize it and it will begin to make a difference.

Today I ran on the treadmill just a little faster, just for the last few minutes. I was more out of breath than I had been on the treadmill in quite a few days. I feel satisfied.
